Fishing Locations

Swain Reefs

The Swain Reefs are located some 250 kms out in the Coral Sea east of Yeppoon and cover approximately 2,500 square miles and are one of the most beautiful locations to visit.  They are home to some of the most exciting  sportfishing and reef fishing that you can imagine.   Wrestle with tackle busting species like Giant Trevally & Red Bass, massive Coral Trout, Red Emperor, Wrasse & Cod over 500 lbs. Swain Reefs has hundreds of bommies and reef drop offs that dot each area, there are some reefs of Swains that have never been fished before. Battle with the lure grabbing species like Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo, and of course a variety of mighty Tuna, including Bluefin, Yellowfin and the monstrous Dog Tooth Tuna.  Have we mentioned the Sailfish and Black Marlin we regularly encounter??

Shoalwater Bay

Shoalwater Bay is very isolated location and is rarely fished because it is the training area for the Australian defence forces and is closed to the public at different times of the year. There are numerous islands reefs and shoals in this area that stretch approximately 120 miles along the coast. Most of which are rarely fished throughout the year. As part of our trip plans for 2010 we look forward to exploring this untapped area. Shoalwater Bay and the surrounding Islands shoals and reefs are home to some of the biggest fish you can imagine, huge GT’s,  Queenfish, Threadfin Salmon, Mangrove Jacks, Spanish Mackeral & Coral Trout call this area home. The near by creeks hold big Barramundi Fingermark Bream and big Mud Crabs.

Capricorn Bunker Group

The Capricorn Bunker Group is made up of 13 Islands beautiful sand cays with fringing reef, Heron Island, Lady Musgrave form part of this group. The Islands and reefs are home to massive Coral Trout,  Spangled Emperor,  Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo, GT’s, Marlin, Sailfish, Dog Tooth Tuna and more.  The shelf edge is not far and large Blue ,Black and Striped Marlin have been tagged and released from this area.
